WHY BE A DRIVING INSTRUCTOR?

Driving instructors work flexible hours

This means you can pick up your child after school, work a day job and be a driving instructor in the evenings for extra income

It’s a path to entrepreneurship

Most driving instructors are freelancers and many start their own driving schools with family or partners

Steady demand for driving lessons

Southern Ontario is one the biggest recipients of New Canadians, and so every year, tens of thousands of people need driving instruction to learn how to drive or to pass their G2 and G tests.

Driving instructors make a living wage

Novice instructors make a living wage that allows them to provide for their family. Income commensurate with experience as the more experienced you are, the larger the reach of your word of mouth and hence the busier you will be.

Grow your practice from a strong foundation

Building upon your Basic Driver Instructor Certification, there are further driving instructor courses available for people who want to develop their credentials and expand their reach.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE COURSE?

Gain confidence

Our Basic Driving Instructor Course includes 80 hours of classroom theory work and 51 hours of practical, hands-on, in-vehicle work.

Simulated work environment

In class and in vehicle, students work through a series of learning situations to fully understand the learning objectives, the teaching techniques and measuring the expected student outcome.

Full time or part time

The course can be completed either as a four-week full-time program (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or as an 11-week part-time basis (two weekday evenings and weekends).

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE COURSE?

You’re qualified to teach driving

Bring the confidence you’ve gained to instruct novice drivers, manage risk, ensure safety, understand the Ontario Highway Traffic Act and much more.

Strong demand for driving instructors

Many driving schools in Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, Barrie, Ottawa, London and other parts of Southern Ontario are actively searching for instructors to add to their team.

Become your own boss

After working with an established driving school, many students launch their own driving school business and build a successful venture.
